It's no secret that I have my own struggles with mental health. Over the years, I've figured out a lot of little tips and tricks that make getting through the work day a little bit easier when I am crawling out of my skin with anxiety.Read More

This is a week late but....
The past few weeks have been non-stopped for me and last weekend was no exception. My schedule has been filled, morning, noon, and night with workouts, hangouts, and work events. This year, I am attempting to say "yes" to more activities and while I am getting little sleep, I am having the best time.Read More

I am going to apologize in advance for the slightly lazy journalism that is going to follow but I have a million things to share and I am just SO EXCITED!!! Check out some of my current obsessions and become obsessed with them as well.Read More
As a part of our "super healthy lifestyle" initiative, Shelby and I decided to go sober for a little bit. What better way to kick off going sober than to use an expiring Groupon for a wine tasting?! Late Sunday afternoon, we ventured all the way out to the Malibu Family Wines tasting room over at Angeles National Golf Course in Sunland. Just a 25 min drive into The Valley and we were already obsessed with how beautiful everything was.Read More

Y'all! There is a new streaming app in town and I am obsessed with it! MeVee is a social media live streaming platform that captures the can't-miss moments. Unlike Periscope, MeVee records your live videos and keeps them until you decide to delete them. They don't disappear after a certain amount of time. Also, you can live stream privately with a friend or group!Read More
Usually, that little "On This Day" section of Facebook gives me anxiety. It always reminds me of past relationships, events or even outfits that I'd rather not relive. But then I see things like this and remember exactly what I was going through at that time.
I am so, so guilty of settling in relationships of any kind. I never speak up when someone is treating me poorly. I make excuses for others bad behavior. I let others dictate how I feel about myself.
I absolutely needed to be reminded of my own words.
In an effort to be smart and cultured, I started listening to podcasts about a year ago. Currently, I have 4 podcasts in rotation but welcome suggestions for moreRead More
I am not a crafter. It's just not something I have ever been good at. So bad, in fact, that going in craft stories with my mom gives me anxiety. However, deciding that I need to stop being a granny closed up in my apartment, I joined a few friends for a craft afternoon. Normally, I would have screamed "HARD PASS" and not even given this a second thought BUT I figured I could blog about it no matter what so...here we go.Read More
Thanks to my obsessive tweeting in an Expedia Twitter chat late last year, I won a two night stay at the Green Valley Ranch Resort and Casino in Henderson, NV. The free stay had been in the back of my mind for a while so I decided to bite the bullet and finally use it on the extra days I had off due to Thanksgiving. Las Vegas is only a 3-4 hour drive from Los Angeles and about an hour flight. My friend Liz and I opted for the former and made a road trip out of it.Read More
My Thanksgiving started out at 6AM with a few errands as well as a yoga class and a great run at the gym.
I had the honor of being invited to Pastor Erwin and Mrs. Kim's home to share a meal with their family and friends. This meant I got to help Mrs Kim prep a meal for about 30 people.
Potatoes were pealed and meat was sliced. Seriously, I have never cooked such a big meal with so many hands in the kitchen before. It was definitely a fun experience. We all worked really hard and laughed even harder.
I always joke with Mrs Kim and tell her that her house looks like Pinterest. Any time she has us over for small group, the food is so thoughtfully prepared and the eating area decorated beautifully. Thanksgiving was no exception.
Can you believe how beautifully they decorated?! The place settings were so adorable that it was everything I could do NOT to take it home. However, I decided that stealing from my pastor probably wasn't the best idea so I put my dishes in their sink instead. All of the food was absolutely wonderful (including the mashed potatoes I was in charge of). I fought the urge to get a ton of seconds because I had another dinner to go to in a few hours. Had I not had another event to attend, I would have probably just camped out by the food table, eating my afternoon away.
After such a fun day with my church family, I headed home to prep baked mac and cheese as well as brussels sprouts to take to a Friendsgiving. Unfortunately, I was still so stuffed from earlier in the day that I barely got to eat what I made.
All in all, even though I admittedly don't like Turkey Day and I was away from my family, I had a wonderful day with friends who I love very much.
Dear Past Melinda,

Hopefully I am not the only person in this boat or else I am going to look like a crazy emo lady BUT I love to listen to sad songs in the Fall. What's better than driving down the 101 in 70 (that's freezing for us) degree weather listening to sad songs? NOT NOTHING. (I swear I have a journalism degree.)Read More
This summer in my small group, we were required to give ourselves a challenge. My challenge was to love myself. Having always struggled with insecurities and body image issues, I felt like I made the right choice. I'd like to say that I really took this challenge seriously, but I didn't. I got caught up in traveling, my clients, and putting other's problems before my own needs.Read More
Like most people who work a 9-5 (or 6 in my case), weekends are precious. I generally start my Saturday's at 7AM and pack in as many errands as I can.Read More
